Nano Banana Pro x PORTO ROCHA
EXPLORE
Intro
Introducing YOYOYO, a collaborative, hypothetical
brand and product made from a partnership between
Google DeepMind and the creative team
from PORTO ROCHA.
This exploration set out to test the limits of the Nano Banana Pro model through a process of refining, adjusting, and iterating alongside the model.
Product design
Once a yo-yo became the clear direction, we focused on shaping the object itself. Using Nano Banana Pro, we explored form and material through rapid volumetric studies, refining balance, softness, and core geometry as form and surface evolved together.

Visual identity
We explored multiple visual directions for the YOYOYO brand. Symbols, logo forms, colors, and motion were tested in parallel, allowing the identity to emerge directly from the object’s logic and movement.
LOGOTYPE
Taking our concept forward, we created multiple sketches of logo ideas. From here, we selected promising starting points, and returned to the drawing board, working with type specialists to develop and refine them further.

COLORS
Step 1
As an initial approach to the color palette, we asked the tool to generate options based on three qualities: colorful, vibrant and expressive.
Step 2
Due to the abundance of warm colors and the lack of blues, we sought to modify the initial palette to achieve a wider range of colors.
Step 3
Our final palette ended up being a combination of both previous explorations, maintaining a broad color range that allows us to work across various applications while also functioning effectively in product design.

TYPOGRAPHY

While the typography was crafted in collaboration with Omnitype, Nanobanana Pro played a valuable supporting role helping us quickly translate content and explore typographic effects. It gave us the speed and flexibility to experiment and refine ideas more efficiently.

Packaging
The packaging phase explored multiple directions, from fashion-inspired formats such as pouches and handbag-like objects to more classic retail packaging, allowing form, material, and use to be tested in parallel.

PROMPT
Create a multiview perspective for this yoyo bag and its yoyo inside.
The back should look like the front, the side should show a way how to open the bag.
The yoyo from image 2 is the one that is inside in image 1.
The side parts of the bag should be closed to that the strings of the yoyo are protected, still the closure should look smart and modern.
Give me a 2x2 grid with another view in each frame:
1. 45 degree turned to the side
2. Side view
3. Front view
4. 45 degree turned view without
the yoyo inside, empty.

Photography
Photography explored different ways of seeing the object. From surreal compositions to images with people and real-world settings, we tested how YOYOYO could exist across contexts.

We placed the object in unexpected, surreal settings to explore its scale and presence.

PRODUCT PHOTOSHOOT
PEOPLE
Through multiple prompts, we refined the angle and lighting to show the product in use, and in focus.

IN SITUATION

Video
Video allowed us to focus on movement as a core expression of the product. Through dynamic and experimental shots, we explored rotation, rhythm, and scale, and how to extend the object’s presence through motion and spatial perception.
In context
Here, we explored YOYOYO could live across physical and digital touchpoints, from out-of-home placements to social applications.

Store
We translated the YOYOYO universe into physical space, scaling up the yoyo's distinctive geometry to create a custom pop-up store.

Summary
YOYOYO evolves Nano Banana Pro from a creative assistant into an engine for industrial product design. This project has proven the model’s capabilities, informed product decisions, and demonstrated Nano Banana Pro can be a tool for professional workflows rather than consumer entertainment.

Nano Banana Pro
As our final test of the model, we 3D printed a yo-yo via a rendering inspired by Nano Banana and found that Nano Banana Pro handles complex, multi-item scenes easily. It keeps your product models as they should be without warping them, and offers highly realistic outputs with lighting and shadows that make rendering outputs into 3D renderings possible.
